Visualising tactile scneries of Iceland
The texture of Iceland
Drawing
MA course project
2013
Inspired by my 40-day trip to Iceland, I drew mountains and people on the street in Reykjavík in a tactile way.
These works were implemented with ordinary materials, such as children's crayons and craft paper, creating the texture of roughness through roughly painted blocks of colours. In particular, the street scene can be felt tactually by means of wool fabrics which remind of Icelandic national product and gives the mood of a cold climate. Also, the translucent lines evoke the feelings of openness in order for each figure to breathe.
