The Hundredths
Photography
Self-initiated
2006-Present
Over a decade, Lomo LC-A, a compact film camera, has been a great tool for me to observe my daily life. I have taken about 460 rolls of films. I celebrate every hundredth rolls as a small project. It is supposed to be executed on the spot where I am at that time. As it normally happens during my trips where I take loads of photos, it organically reflects local people and their own landscape.
The locations has been Paris (2008), Madagascar (2010), Madrid (2011), and Reykjavik (2013). The 500th is coming very slowly.
The main idea of the 100th film taken in Paris is capturing local people holding the big figures of '100' with iconic architectures of the city.
I got the 200th one in Madagascar. Comparing with the 100th film, I scaled up the size of the figure and prepared balloons which was effectively shown with the dazzle of the African sun.
As the 300th one happened in Madrid, Spain, I, luckily, was able to use “lomo” which means “tenderloin” in Spanish in the menu of local restaurants.
I managed to photograph the 400th film in Iceland and wanted to make it with the combination of a ruler I came across, people and objects.
