Josuri Mill is a small mill that produces grain based products in Jeju Island, Korea. It specializes in locally-grown sesame seeds and sesame oil. The mill is a part of a restaurant, The Finland in Jeju.
I was asked to create typography based logo in collaboration with June Seo, who redesigned the logo of The Finland. It was the production process, from growing sesame to making oil, as important as the authentic quality of their products. Therefore, we focused on the tools that were closely used by the oil maker. The generous roundness of the vessels was the foundation of the logo typeface.
The mill is a part of a restaurant, The Finland in Jeju, whose logo is organically included in the label as the die-cut shape of the house.
Those round-shape vessel are the main components of product making process. The typeface has been shaped around them.
